New Car or Used Car?

Before purchasing a vehicle, you should determine if you should buy a new car or a used car. The are advantages and disadvantages to both options. New cars are more expensive and they lose value the minute you drive off the lot. However, you can be certain that the car was never in an accident, and you probably will not need to replace any expensive parts for a long while.

Used cars have their advantages as well. There are far less expensive and you can often get a very good deal. Many used automobiles are relatively new, some that are offered may only be a year or two old. The factors that you must consider are the number of owners that the car has had and if the car was even involved in any accidents. A car that has had many owners may indicate a car that people could not wait to get rid of. Accidents may indicate damage that is not visible. If possible, getting the maintenance records is a major plus. People that take excellent care of their cars keep records of the maintenance. Good maintenance can greatly extend a car’s life.

Ultimately, your budget will determine which type of automobile you buy. The savings offered by pre-owned cars do allow most people to buy a better quality auto than if they purchased new.
